When Traffic411 went live in 2000, this was one of the first websites to offer real time freeway speed and accident information across California and in several other US cities.

Today, several companies provide traffic maps that feature real time traffic and accident information. Here are some links to help you navigate Southern California’s busy freeways:

Los Angeles Traffic Maps

Traffic.com Interactive icons mark traffic hotspots. There’s a “Jam Factor” rating for each freeway to help gauge current traffic speeds and conditions.
Metro.net – Live traffic maps with accident data. Mouse over message signs to view estimated travel times and alerts. Road closures and weather advisories are also included.
Commuteview.net is a partnership between Iteris Inc. and LADPW, and features traffic data from Caltrans/PeMS and the California Highway Patrol. Mouse over the triangles for details on traffic tie-ups.
